Hudson lies on the western edge of Wisconsin in the St. Croix Valley. Even though it lies in Wisconsin, it is considered part of the Twin Cities metro area due to its close proximity. Hudson is not to be confused with the village of North Hudson, which lies directly to the north.
Hudson was originally founded in 1840 by Louis Massey, Peter Bouchea, William Steets, and Joseph Sauperson. They originally settled at the mouth of the Willow River, which is now First and St Croix Streets. In fact, Hudson’s original name was Willow River. Then, it was changed to Buena Vista by Judge Joel Foster, and then changed again to Hudson in 1852. The town’s first mayor, Alfred D. Gray, proposed the name change as the bluffs along the St Croix River reminded him of the Hudson River back in his hometown of New York.
As of the 2010 census, there were more than 12,7000 residents in Hudson. Since then, more neighborhoods have been built and the school system expanded to accommodate the growing community. There are ample opportunities for housing, work, and entertainment. If you are looking to move to Hudson or relocate within the city, Greatland Transportation is here to help.
